I grew up right here in Houston – attending school in Acres Homes and Cypress. Not only was I the first college graduate in my mother’s family when I graduated from Tulane University, but I am also the only lawyer on both sides of my family. After graduating from the University of Texas School of Law almost 18 years ago, I dedicated myself to excelling in the law, serving my community, and working hard for justice. As a result, I was promoted to partner at a large law firm, was voted a Super Lawyers Rising Star (a service of Thomson Reuters) for seven years in a row, and I remain the only African-American to receive the Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year Award by the Houston Young Lawyers Association. Being a lawyer is a blessing and a responsibility. I give back to the community that raised me by providing over 1700 hours of pro bono legal service in both civil and appellate courts. I also stand behind fair voting rights, volunteering my time for Election Protection efforts for more than 15 years.
I bring to the 55th District Court my experience as a lawyer and my unique perspective, as shaped by my community, my love of the law, and my passion for justice. Our community needs a judge who will be fair to all no matter your walk of life, who will follow the law, and who seeks to balance the scales of justice in every case. I will be that judge!
Thank you in advance for your vote and support!
